This is the third year that The PwC Great Zuurberg Trek will take place in the Zuurberg mountains not far from Addo. The routes go along the Sundays River Valley on day one. The second day is in the beautiful Zuurberg Mountains going deep into the Addo Elephant Park. This is a pretty tough ride with the most amazing views! The third day is one for the single track lovers with most of the route following sections of Hayterdale Trails.
Both stage one and 2 are over 70 km in distance. Stage 2 is a tough one in terms of climbing and the type of terrain. It is also the most rewarding stage for riders loving real mountain biking. The views on top of the mountains are absolutely magnificent!
Unity in Africa is the sole beneficiary of the PwC Great Zuurberg Trek. The Foundation focuses specifically on supporting a range of educational projects from early childhood development through tertiary education. Corporates investing their SED funding with the Foundation enables the Foundation to identify credible projects for social investment. Proceeds from the PwC Great Zuurberg Trek funds currently disadvantaged people in the community.
The Foundation is assisting with the logistics of the event and providing volunteers from one of their successful initiatives, the Student Volunteer Program in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. Student volunteers will marshal and provide assistance for the entire weekend. The volunteers, which are pooled from the university, have each been selected for their dedication to community outreach and their passion for helping others.
