The Angora MTB Classic will take place on the 5th of September 2015 at the cricket club in Jansenville. Mountain bikers who have done this route, found it to be the perfect start and challenge for the beginning of the season.
The mountain bike routes is a challenge of 65km and 25km. The route stretches along one of the most beautiful, interesting and scenic parts of the Angora district. It stretches along the Sundays River with its lush cultivated fields changes to mountainous landscape with unique succulents like “noorse”, aloes, “vingerpol” and “spek” .
Inquiries and entries from across the country have already been received.
Prizes to the value of R2500-00 for the winners of the 65 km MTB race, R1 000-00 for 25 km MTB as well as R500-00 for the funruns. There are prizes for 2nd and 3rd places as well as a lot of lucky draws in the form of mohair products and many more!!
The event will start at 08h00 sharp at the cricket field in town. The mountain bikers, hikers and runners will start and end the race here. A variety of entertainment for those who await the arrival of the participants will be on offer. Food stalls and a scrumptious breakfast will be on hand. A tea garden for the spectators who are waiting for their relatives to finish the race. Demonstrations by Jay Oelofse of “Kokkedoor” as well as the shearing of angora goats and the classing of mohair will take place. A mouthwatering “spitbraai” is planned for the Friday before the race.
Mohair products, handmade articles as well as delicacies will be on sale. For the younger ones there will be a jumping castle, 3 m slide, trampoline and face painting and target shooting to keep them occupied. There will be “hansies” to bottle fed. The bowling green offers a unique experience. The bowling club will provide the equiptment for anyone who wants to try out this wonderful sport on the unique rubber surface at only R15 pp. This activity can be enjoyed by everyone. It is the first time that the meeting will be presented in this format . All stops have been pulled to make it as interesting, entertaining and unique as possible.
This event will be hosted by the Huis Welverdien, Dutch Reformed Church and local tourism.
