For those not familiar with Video Streaming services like Netflix and ShowMax, they basically offer anyone with an internet connection the ability to stream Movies, Series and other video content. And with a Smart TV it couldn’t be easier to get going. Just look for one of these services in your TV app store, register for a free trial and Bob’s your uncle!
However if you don’t have a Smart TV you can still view it on a Smart Phone, Tablet or PC. ShowMax will set you back R99/month and delivers some great content and, as the title eluded to, documentaries that will get you itching for a bike ride. So let’s see what they’ve got for the two wheel minded.
“Where the Trail Ends…” is about a group of crazy mountain bikers that set out on a mission to find some of the best freeriding spots around the world – most places that no other mountain bikers have even dared to venture. Locations include Argentina, China and Nepal among others. Expect some amazing landscapes and guys like Darren Berrecloth, Camron Zink and Andreu Lacondeguy shredding some serious dirt.
Strength in Numbers is a RedBull production which in itself is reason enough to watch. I’ve yet to watch the full video but with names like Brandon Semenuk, Gee Atherton and Cam McCaul I can’t wait to get stuck into this one.
Danny MakAskill isn’t a mountain biker per se. But he still earns the right to be on this list purely because of his skill on a bike and popularity. I mean, chances are your grandmother has seen his videos! “Imaginate” breaks the norm of cycling videos and allows you to enter into the mind of this talented trickster through the eyes of a kid. The full video is only 7min long (which you can view below) but the ShowMax feature gives you 40min of behind the scene footage of how this ground breaking video was made and a glimpse of the man behind the bike. I really enjoyed this one.
